A PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE STATE CONSTITUTION TO REQUIRE VOTER APPROVAL OF ANY FORM OF GAMBLING AUTHORIZED BY LAW AND CERTAIN NEW STATE LOTTERY GAMES
The proposed constitutional amendment would:
* Require voter approva l of any form of gambling authorized by law after January 1, 2004.
* Require voter approval of any new state lottery games utilizing 'table games' or 'player operated mechanical or electronic devices' introduced after January 1, 2004.
* Provide that when voter approval is required, both statewide voter approval and voter approval in the city or township where gambling will take place must be obtained.
* Specify that the voter approval requirement does not apply to Indian tribal gaming or gambling in up to three casinos located in the City of Detroit.
Should this proposal be adopted?
A PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE STATE CONSTITUTION TO SPECIFY WHAT CAN BE RECOGNIZED AS A 'MARRIAGE OR SIMILAR UNION' FOR ANY PURPOSE
The proposal would amend the state constitution to provide that 'the union of one man and one woman in marriage shall be the only agreement recognized as a marriage or similar union for any purpose.'
Should this proposal be adopted?
Shall separate tax limitations be established for a period of four (4) years, or until altered by the voters of the county, for the County of Lapeer, and the Townships and Intermediate School District within the County, the aggregate of which shall not exceed 6.6250 as follows: County of Lapeer (Mills) 4.5480, Townships (Mills) 1.8520, Intermediate School District (Mills) .2250. Total (Mills) 6.6250
Shall the Township of Hadley raise money by special assessment for the purpose of police protection for the five fiscal years beginning 2004-2005 with the following maximum assessments? $32.00 per year for each dwelling, $16.00 per year for parcels that do not contain a dwelling.
Shall Imlay Township contract with Waste Management of Michigan, Inc. to be the exclusive solid waste collection hauler to provide for collection, recycling and disposal of solid waste within the Township beginning on January 6, 2005 and each Thursday thereafter at a cost of $27.75 per quarter for each residential unit with annual cost increases limited to 2.3% (percent) per year after 2005. The cost per household, per year, of $111.00 will include collection of recyclable materials on an every other week basis and will not exceed $121.56 for the 5th year of the contract (2009). Residential cost will be billed annually and included with the winter tax collection each year.
Shall the Tax Limitation on General and Ad Valorem Taxes within Rich Township imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution be increased for said Township by (2) mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value). For the years of 2004 thru 2008 for Road & Bridge construction & maintenance purposes. Thereby, raising an estimated $79,221.80 in 2004.
Shall the previous voted increase in tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on General and Ad Valorem Taxes within Rich Township be renewed at 3 mills ($3.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) for the period of 2005 thru 2008 inclusive, the funds to be used to reduce and control the mosquito population within Rich Township; And shall the Township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose, thereby raising in the first year an estimated $118,832.70.
