Hearing and Vision Screening Program

The Hearing and Vision Screening program offers free, periodic screenings in the schools as part of the Public Health Code. This is done by technicians with the local health department, and trained by MDHHS.

Screening dates are available by calling your child’s school, and information is sent home with each child at the beginning of the school year.

Hearing and Vision screenings are conducted at specific times, starting age 3 and continuing throughout their school years. Screenings can be done at other times if there is a concern from parents and/or teachers.

Hearing and vision problems detected and corrected early can prevent permanent damage and learning disabilities.
